About the Horseback Vet

the HORSEBACK VET's mission is to provide relief to horses and ponies suffering from uncomfortable and performance-restricting back issues. We use a variety of physical techniques to mobilise vertebrae and their interfaces with limbs, ribs and skulls, with the aim of restoring comfort, free-movement and maximal performance. Horses have now been seen across five continents.

Rob Jackson BVetMed, DipSurv(RP), MRCVS qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1996 and has twenty four years of equine veterinary experience, including as an orthopaedic surgeon in Somerset. Rob is a former British Endurance Team Vet (including at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, 2010) and FEI Official Veterinarian for Eventing and Endurance, and has officiated at numerous national and international fixtures in most equine disciplines. He has lectured and been an external examiner for three equine science colleges, has been published in the UK veterinary journal In Practice and was scientific editor for the forthcoming English translation of a French veterinary osteopathy text. Rob's interest in equine manipulation and spinal release began in the late 1990s and he has honed his skills in this field during his work with horses across five continents and with further training in Equine Osteopathy at the AVETAO academy near Paris. He is a member of the British Equine Veterinary Association and continues to work as a veterinary surgeon at a number of equestrian competitions.

Rob is also a British Driving Society qualified carriage driver, has competed in polo, dressage, showjumping, eventing and showing, has ridden across Scotland and jousted at several British castles.
